About

I am a digital artist, California native, graduate student (M.S.), and protein & cell biologist working full-time in biotherapeutic research. My passions and inspirations include drawing, designing, my 2 cats, video games, anime, coffee, and science (of course)!

I have always had a natural curiosity for life sciences and have been into digital illustration since I was a child. I am a former graphic design student but graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology. I recently (2023) rediscovered by love for digital illustration after taking a years-long hiatus.

Last year (2023), I found myself wanting to design some stickers for my coworkers that poked fun at all the shortcomings we experienced together in the lab: stress, failed experiments, troubleshooting, contamination, machine failure, tight timelines, burnout...

I instantly fell in love with the process of designing and handmaking stickers, and seeing people laugh and enjoy my art brings me so much joy! I knew I wanted to share my designs with others too!

The life of a scientist is rough and I fully understand the stress and hardships that come with doing scientific research. Shop Lab Sass exists to celebrate the fun but also to poke fun at the adversities that come with doing scientific research.

Laughter can be the best lab partner, and I hope that my silly lab and science-themed designs help you to embrace both the light and dark sides of research. The goal of Shop Lab Sass is to bring you joy and empower you to get you through your hardest days and experiments! Lab can be more fun, humorous and less serious on any occasion!

Fun fact: The name 'Shop Lab Sass' is eponymous. The idea of 'Sass' came from my initials! ;)

My ultimate dream has always been to see my artwork come to life. Shop Lab Sass is the start of that dream.
